| Lucy Lu |
| Meet Lucy. Lucy's story is a bit different than her sisters. We actually had no intention of getting another dog when she found us. We were actually quite content with Billie and Nina, and of course the Labs, Greta and Otis. Well, every November there is a fund raiser for the Children's Hospital and some friends from Midland Hills are involved. Of course, we try to make it if we can. This particular year I believe the theme was the Orient. Everything had an oriental twist. People had some fun oriental hats, beautiful little purses, clip on braids-the kind that light up...and as always there was the Martini bar. Very dangerous. This particular year the big auction item was a tiny little Yorkie puppy named Lucy Lu. There she was as sweet as can be in her Red Tulle ball gown making the rounds with a little help from a volunteer. She was just so cute I could hardly stand it. Even Alex was carrying her around before long. I must have asked Alex a hundred times if we could have her. "aw come on, PLEASE?" Luckily for me, the auction does not begin until after dinner - which is plenty of time for cocktails. Well they brought Lucy up on stage and opened up the bidding at around $1,000. "COME ON ALEX! It's for a good cause!" To my surprise the napkin went up! "WOOO HOO!" screamed I and half the people and wait staff around me. But then there was another bid. And another. And another. "PLEASE?!" Up went the napkin. Each bid bringing louder cheers from all around. It's hard not to get excited in the midst of all this. Several er hundreds of dollars in bids later we won! The phone call home to my mother Dee followed. "You bought a what??" Well, it turns out that Lucy fit right in at home. She perked up the two older Yorkies and brought thousands of smiles to all our faces. Lucy's tongue is usually sticking out of her mouth. And when you approach her to pick her up, she flattens herself to the ground. Enjoy some pictures of Lucy |
