Cairo is the horse that started this all. After a stressful period in my life during my 30's I began going on trail rides fairly frequently. I enjoyed it so much that I began taking riding lessons. That led me to want a horse of my own and we found Cairo at a jumper barn near Buffalo. Since Cairo was green, and I was obviously quite green, it was an interesting journey. We rode 6 or 7 days each week and even enjoyed a few schooling shows at the old Blackshire Equestrian. We had a few "oop's" along the way but mostly we just enjoyed our time spent together learning. Cairo had a "mishap" about a year or two after I got him. It seems he slipped on the concrete during turn-in one evening. We had a series of undiagnosed lameness issues that required several thousands of dollars and eventually led to his being retired to official "pet" status. He is still very handsome and enjoys his life of leisure quite well. Cairo is a 16 year old Trakehner gelding who stands 16.3 hands tall. He is a dark Chestnut with a unique set of markings on his nose. He has 6 small stripes that give him the appearance of an Indian pony. We believe they were caused by an ill fitting halter or a chain used carelessly. He used to be more of a goof when he was younger eliciting the nickname Houdini as a result of his clever escape antics. He could shimmy under even the lowest hung stall guards with minimal effort or noise.
