Meet Billie.  One Sunday morning, about ten years ago, I woke up with an overwhelming urge to go get a
newspaper.  This was not something I usually did.  I drove to the store and purchased a paper, then came home
and opened it directly to the Classified section.  My eyes immediately went to the Pets section even though I
had not even considered buying a dog.  And I went straight to one of the last ads that read Mini Yorkie Pups.  I
immediately called the telephone number and asked them to hold a puppy for me until later that day and then
called my mother.  "Do you want to go to Buffalo with me today?" I asked.  She replied "Sure." and then asked
"What are we going to Buffalo for?"  "To pick up my new dog." I answered.  "A dog? What kind of dog?" she
asked.  "A miniature Yorkie" I said.  "A miniature Yorkie, what in the heck is a minature Yorkie?" To which I
replied that I had no idea, I just knew it was my dog.  And so off we drove to Buffalo.  We arrives at the house
and were invited in to meet my new dog.  A teeny tiny little puppy emerged from the dining room.  I didn't
think this could possibly be the dog because she looked only days old.  They assured me that it was the dog and
that she was 8 weeks old and ready to go.  Her mother was a bit rough around the edges looking a bit haggard
from the recent delivery of pups and she had the most unappealing smile.  Yes, I said smile.  Dee (mother)
quietly whispered to me that we should just go.  But I sat down on the floor in the living room and this teeny
tiny little pup walked right over and climbed onto my outstretched palm and curled up to sleep.  Just like that.
So, I asked Dee to hand me my checkbook and wrote out a check for an ungodly amount of money and brought
my new dog home.  It turns out Billie(named after my favorite Jazz singer Billie Holiday) is exactly what I
needed in my life.  She has brought me so many years of joy and comfort.  Billie is pretty much blind now, and
the teeth she has left are not exactly sparkling white.  But she still shares my pillow with me every night.  Billie
is only really happy when someone is holding her, so on any given day you will find her snuggled up in
someones arms as if she belonged there like a an appendage that had been missing.  And because Bill is blind,
she will come close to the room where people have gathered and BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK until
someone gets up to pick her up.  I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.   Billie has her own horses.  TRwo
of them actually!  When bill was a baby, we bought a pair of Horse slippers (human size).  She rides at least once
a day.  No kidding.  And watching her ride is guaranteed to make you laugh.  She rides and then growls at the
slipper and head butts it down the stairs.  Billie weighs about 5lbs.
